It is a little known fact that Chicago’s first brewery, Diversey and Lill, had a French connection. Diversey, a Frenchman, and Lill ran the largest brewery in the West in the mid-19th century. The brewery was lost in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. However, 141 years later, the French influence returns to Chicago brewing.
Castelain will become the first french Craft brewery to do a collaboration beer with our friends at Two Brothers. On March 30, Jason and Jim Ebel (sic Two Brothers) will travel to Benifontaine to brew a special beer, Diversey & Lille, with Nicholas and Annick Castelain. Keep an eye on our blog, facebook page, and twitter account for pictures from brew day! Expect the beer to reach Vanberg & DeWulf markets early in the third quarter.
